Chapter 14 Between “Sir” and “Janaa”

Morning — Company Headquarters

The office carried its usual sharp, professional energy.

Glass cabins lined the floor, reflecting movement and light. Outside, employees were already immersed in their work, fingers tapping across keyboards, voices low and focused. On the main screen, the live progress of the North Zone Security Project kept updating in real time.

Aryan was the first to arrive.

He walked straight into his cabin, placed his things down, and opened his laptop without wasting a second. Within moments, he was completely absorbed in the project files. His face held that familiar, intimidating seriousness—the one that made it clear he was in full boss mode.

For the next two hours, he worked non-stop, giving back-to-back approvals, reviewing documents, making decisions without hesitation.

Finally, he picked up the intercom.

“Send that file inside.”

A few minutes later, there was a soft knock on the door.

“Come in,” Aryan said, eyes still on the screen.

The door opened.

Vani stepped inside.

She was dressed in formal attire, her hair neatly tied, her expression calm and controlled.

“Sir… the file.”

Aryan’s pen stopped mid-motion.

Slowly, he lifted his gaze and looked at her.

“I’m sorry… what did you just say?”

Vani stood straight, composed.

“Sir.”

Aryan pushed his chair back and stood up.

Without breaking eye contact, he walked to the glass wall of his cabin and pulled the blinds down. The transparent space turned private instantly.

Vani’s heartbeat picked up.

Aryan walked back toward her—closer… and closer… until there was barely any space left between them.

“Say it again.”

“Sir.”

He stepped even closer this time.

As he reached for the file in her hand, his fingers brushed against hers… then held them. His grip tightened just slightly, his thumb pressing gently against her fingers.

“Sir…?”

Vani looked up into his eyes.

“Yes… sir.”

A slow smile appeared on Aryan’s lips.

Without warning, his hand slid to her waist, pulling her closer to him.

“Now say it.”

“Janaa… this is office.”

“Just now you were calling me ‘sir’.”

“Please… someone might come.”

Aryan leaned closer, his breath brushing against her neck. She could feel it—warm, unsettling, and impossible to ignore.

“Who will come?” he whispered. “This is my cabin.”

His tone turned playful, teasing.

His hand moved slightly upward from her waist, pressing lightly against the side of her chest.

“Now say it… sir?”

Vani’s face flushed instantly.

She grabbed his shirt tightly.

“Janaa… stop…”

“Why?” he murmured. “You were fine calling me sir a minute ago.”

“This is office… not home.”

He leaned closer to her ear, his voice dropping lower.

“I don’t care.”

Vani couldn’t take it anymore. She hid her face against his chest, completely overwhelmed.

“Bas? That’s all it takes for madam to lose control?” he chuckled softly.

She hit his chest lightly.

“You’re shameless.”

Just then, footsteps echoed outside the cabin.

Vani immediately stepped back.

She quickly adjusted her hair, fixed her expression, and composed herself.

“I’m leaving.”

As she reached for the door, Aryan’s voice stopped her.

“Next time… don’t call me ‘sir’.”

She turned back, looked at him… a hint of mischief in her eyes.

“Yes, sir.”

And then she walked out.

Aryan dropped back into his chair, shaking his head with a faint smile.

“Pagal ladki…”

The next second, his eyes returned to the screen.

North Zone Security — Budget Approval Pending.

He picked up his phone.

“Release the additional funds. No delay.”

His voice was firm again.

Boss mode—back.

Late Afternoon

Aryan’s cabin door was closed.

The desk was covered with layout maps of the North Zone Security setup. On the screen, the live installation tracker blinked continuously.

He picked up his phone and dialed directly.

Three rings.

“Hello?”

Mahi’s voice sounded slightly tired.

Aryan noticed instantly.

“You’re on-site?”

“Yes. Thermal sensor alignment at the north perimeter is in progress.”

At the same time, Aryan pulled up data on his laptop, cross-checking everything.

“Backup server integration confirmed?”

“Vedant is handling it. The cost is exceeding a bit.”

“Cost is my problem. Security will not be compromised.”

A brief pause.

“Mahi.”

“Hm?”

“Are you hydrated?”

There was a second of silence.

“Bhai… I’m at a work site, not a picnic.”

“Answer.”

“…Yes.”

Aryan leaned back in his chair.

“You felt dizzy yesterday.”

Mahi’s tone shifted slightly, defensive.

“Vedant told you?”

“I didn’t need him to. I can hear it in your voice.”

Silence lingered for a moment.

Then Aryan’s tone shifted back to business.

“Listen carefully. North Zone is a high-risk area. Media scrutiny is possible. Documentation needs to be flawless.”

“Already working on it.”

“Good.”

Another pause.

“Mahi.”

“Haan?”

“Princess… was your birthday okay this time?”

A soft smile touched Mahi’s lips.

“It was perfect… between work.”

Aryan’s voice softened.

“Next year, we’ll celebrate properly. At home.”

“…Hmm.”

Then his tone turned slightly firm again.

“Take care of yourself. The project is important… but you matter more.”

Mahi’s eyes filled slightly, but her voice stayed steady.

“Yes, boss.”

“Is Vedant there?”

“Yes.”

“Give him the phone.”

A few seconds later—

“Yes.”

Aryan’s voice was now completely corporate.

“I need Phase 2 documentation by 6 PM. And don’t let Mahi take unnecessary strain.”

Vedant replied calmly, “She’s fine.”

“Make sure she stays fine.”

A brief pause.

“Understood.”

The call ended.

Aryan placed his phone on the table.

For a second… his expression changed completely.

Then he picked up the intercom again.

“Tell the legal team to keep the compliance draft ready. North Zone will not be delayed.”

His voice was firm once more.

Everything back in control.
