People slowly begin to leave the meeting room, their voices fading into the quiet corridors. Mahi closes her laptop and starts packing her things when Vedant walks up to her, calm as ever.
“Did you get enough rest last night?” he asks in a low voice.
Mahi looks at him and gives a small, tired smile. “Thanks.”
Vedant doesn’t react much. “Next time, go home earlier.”
On the other side of the room, Vani gathers her files and stands up. Aryan is still there. Just two steps apart, yet it feels like miles. Neither of them says a word, but the air between them grows heavy.
After a moment, Vani quietly walks out.
Aryan watches her leave, then exhales deeply.
That evening, Vani reaches home. She drops her bag beside the sofa, slips off her shoes, and walks into the kitchen. Pouring herself a glass of water, she pauses.
The house feels unusually quiet.
Then—the doorbell rings.
Vani closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.
It rings again. Louder this time. Then again, continuously.
But she doesn’t move.
She stands there, staring at the door in silence.
The bell stops.
Two seconds of stillness.
Then—the sound of a key sliding into the lock.
Click.
The door opens.
Aryan walks in, his expression already edged with controlled anger. He shuts the door and looks at her. She’s still standing there—clearly she heard the bell, but didn’t open it.
That’s enough to break his patience.
He strides toward her and grabs her arms, his grip tight. “Can’t you hear the doorbell?” His voice is low, but the anger beneath it is unmistakable.
Vani meets his eyes. “No. I can’t.”
Just two words.
And it hits his ego hard.
Before he can think, Aryan leans down and bites her shoulder.
“Ahh—!” Vani gasps in pain, pushing him away. Without thinking, she slaps him hard.
“What are you, a dog?!”
Silence fills the room. Heavy. Loud.
Aryan stares at her, anger burning in his eyes… but there’s something else there too.
“How many times have I told you?” he mutters, voice rough. “Don’t hit me… or I’ll end up losing control.”
He turns, ready to leave. Like staying any longer would only make things worse.
But then—
Vani grips the edge of his shirt with just two fingers.
It’s not tight. Just a soft hold.
And Aryan stops instantly.
Like someone flipped a switch.
The anger fades.
He turns back to her.
Her head is slightly lowered, but her eyes are on him.
Aryan steps closer again, cupping her face gently but firmly in his hands.
“What is your problem, Vani?” His voice is heavy now. “When I come close, you push me away… when I walk away, you don’t let me go. What do you actually want?”
Vani looks at him, her guard completely down.
“I want you.”
The room falls silent again.
“I can’t stand it when other girls come close to you,” she continues softly. “I can’t share you with anyone.”
Aryan’s expression softens.
“Vani… you silly girl…” His thumb brushes gently against her cheek. “I’ve told you before, and I’ll say it again. I’m yours. Only yours. And I want to stay that way.”
He pauses.
“That Rasmi… she’s just a friend. She just has a habit of getting too close to people.”
“Sorry,” he adds quietly.
Vani looks at him. “It shouldn’t happen again.”
“It won’t.”
A small pause.
“Now give me my smile,” Aryan says with a faint grin. “I’ve been missing it.”
“Not like this.”
His eyebrow lifts. “Then what do I have to do?”
He steps closer.
“Tell me.”
Vani looks away for a second, then back at him. “Say sorry properly.”
Without hesitation, Aryan nods. “Sorry. For the bite. For the anger. For hurting you.”
A pause.
“Now… will I get it?”
“Not yet.”
“Vani…” he groans softly. “Don’t torture me.”
A hint of a smile touches her lips. “One more condition.”
“Anything.”
“Next time, I don’t want to see her anywhere near you.”
“Promise.”
“Pakka?”
“Pakka.”
A few seconds pass.
And finally—
Vani smiles.
Just for him.
Aryan freezes for a moment, just watching her.
“I missed this,” he whispers.
“And I missed you.”
This time, when Aryan pulls her gently into his arms… she doesn’t resist.

Back at the office, by the time the meeting ends, Mahi feels completely drained. Two days of continuous meetings, calls, and presentations—she hasn’t even eaten properly.
She walks into her cabin, closes the door, and sinks into her chair. Kicking off her heels, she leans back and closes her eyes.
“Finally…” she murmurs.
Just thirty seconds of silence—that’s all she wants.
Knock. Knock.
She opens her eyes. “Come in.”
The door opens, and Vedant walks in—calm, composed, as if the day hasn’t touched him at all.
But today, instead of files, he’s holding two small boxes.
He walks up to her desk and places them in front of her without a word.
Mahi looks at the boxes, confused. Then at him. “What’s this?”
Vedant answers simply, “We know you haven’t eaten properly for two days because of work.”
She blinks, surprised.
“So, finish this now.”
Mahi stares at him for a moment. “Seriously?”
“Ji.”
She opens one of the boxes.
And freezes.
It’s her favorite food. Not just something quick—proper, home-style food.
Her face lights up instantly, like a child’s.
“Sara…”
Vedant gives a small nod. “Yes.”
Without wasting another second, Mahi picks up the spoon and starts eating. She’s usually composed, graceful—but not right now. She’s genuinely hungry.
Vedant just stands there, watching her quietly.
There’s a faint smile in his eyes—the kind he rarely lets anyone see.
After a few bites, Mahi looks up. “You should eat too.”
He shakes his head. “We’ve already eaten. You finish yours.”
She narrows her eyes slightly. “Really?”
“Yes.”
Mahi doesn’t push further and goes back to eating.
By the time she’s done, her mood is visibly better. The exhaustion has softened.
Vedant picks up the empty boxes.
“You should go home now.”
“And you?”
“I have some work to finish.”
Mahi nods and walks out of the cabin.
But just before leaving, she turns back for a moment.
Vedant is already back to his usual serious self.
As if nothing had happened.
