Chapter 6: The Name That Felt Like Home

The sound of someone approaching echoed on the terrace.

Aryan immediately stepped away from Vani.

Vani quickly composed herself, trying to look normal, while Aryan picked up his phone and pretended to be busy.

Just then, Mahi walked onto the terrace.

“You both are here… what are you doing?” she asked curiously.

Aryan replied casually,

“I had a call, so I came here.”

Vani hesitated slightly before saying,

“I… just came here for some fresh air.”

Mahi nodded.

“Alright… come on, let’s have breakfast.”

The three of them walked toward the dining table.

As soon as she sat down, Vani started arranging plates and serving food.

Mahi stopped her, “Why are you doing this? I’ll handle it.”

Vani smiled lightly,

“What difference does it make? Whether I do it or you… it’s the same.”

While eating, Mahi’s eyes caught small, subtle gestures between Vani and Aryan—

Aryan would occasionally glance at Vani, then back at his phone.

Mahi didn’t say anything, but she quietly observed everything.

She noticed Vani’s expressions… her casual smiles.

Something felt different. Vani seemed slightly nervous, yet excited.

And Aryan… he seemed more attentive than usual.

After breakfast, Vani quietly followed Mahi to her room.

“So… tell me, what happened yesterday?” Vani asked eagerly.

Mahi shrugged.

“Nothing special… everything was normal. We went for dinner, ate, and came back.”

Vani narrowed her eyes playfully.

“Then why is your face glowing so much? You’re hiding something from me.”

Mahi quickly turned it around.

“Your face is glowing too. And yeah… I noticed something. After seeing my brother, you seem a little different. What’s going on between you two?”

Vani’s breath hitched for a second.

She quickly replied,

“Are you crazy? There’s nothing like that between us.”

Mahi smiled slightly.

“I was just joking.”

Inside, Vani sighed in relief.

That was close… But when she finds out the truth… what will she do to me? She’s already acting like a detective.

Meanwhile…

Vedant stood in front of the mirror.

His routine was as calm and precise as always—

First, a crisp white shirt.

Then carefully placing his coat over his shoulders.

Adjusting his tie once.

Strapping his watch onto his wrist.

Every movement carried discipline.

After putting on his shoes, he paused for a second, looking at himself in the mirror…

Then picked up his car keys and left for the office.

As he entered the office building, the staff immediately stood up.

“Good morning, Sir.”

“Good morning, Mr. Kashyap.”

Vedant simply nodded slightly. Professional. Composed. Maintaining his distance.

He walked straight to his cabin—

Laptop open… checking files… attending calls… scheduling meetings.

For him, work wasn’t just a responsibility…

It was his passion.

On the other side…

Mahi sat beside her mother on the sofa.

There was curiosity in her eyes, like a question she had been holding back for a long time.

“Mom… can I ask you something?”

Alka smiled softly.

“Yes, beta. Go ahead.”

Mahi hesitated for a moment.

“Mom… my name is Mahi… but who gave me the nickname ‘Aaru’?”

Her mother replied gently,

“Vedant did.”

Mahi looked at her in shock.

“Vedant…?”

Alka brushed her hair back lovingly.

“When he was little, he used to call you ‘Aaru… Aaru…’ all the time.

He said it so often that we just decided… that would be your nickname.”

Mahi fell silent for a few seconds.

A strange warmth spread across her face.

“Oh… so that’s why… when he called me Aaru… it felt so special…”

As if, without saying anything…

he had always considered her his own.
